Not Being Into it When It Feels Like Everyone Else Is: Living with Low Desire in a Sex-centric Community
As kinksters and sex-positive people, we surround ourselves with a community drenched in sexual energy. Living in a sex-focused world is fantastic, but can also be painful and difficult for some of us. We may have lower sex drives than we’d like, or less desire than we used to. Maybe we’re experiencing health issues that limit our enjoyment of sex. This class is for us (and the people who care about us) – people who live in sex-centric communities, but who aren’t able to experience sex and sexual desire to the level we see in others. We’re going to talk about the science of sexual desire, think about strategies we can use for support, and share stories to reduce any sense of isolation.
Mara (rhymes with Sarah) is a queer femme, a friendly top, a cuddly dominant, and an occasionally evil sadist. She likes to talk in public about the intersection of sexuality, disability, and health.
$5 for Black Rose Members and Members of Reciprocal Groups with Membership Card, $10 for Non-members
The Meet & Greet also has a sizable regular TNG crowd (those ages 18-35). If you’re new and/or want to connect with people your own age, email email@example.com and one of our coordinators will be happy to answer any questions, introduce you around, and generally make sure you’re comfortable.
Join us for the Black Rose Meet & Greet from 6:15 to 7:45 at The Crucible for a “BYO Brown Bag” Munch. Come enjoy food, fun discussions, and meet like-minded folks. The presenter for the evening’s class usually joins us for great conversation.ASL Interpreters are available upon request. Please give us two weeks notice. Email ASL@br.org for more information.
