Black Rose

Gateway & Dungeon 101

The Black Rose program for newcomers consists of two separate meetings. The first meeting, Gateway, is held on the 1st Thursday of the month from 8:00-9:30 PM at the Holiday Inn Arlington at Ballston, located at 4610 Fairfax Dr, Arlington, VA 22203.

You do not need to be a member or RSVP to attend the Gateway meeting. Gateway is open to all interested people 18 and older.

Gateway costs $5 to attend. Cash only please.

Gateway is a special Black Rose meeting intended for individuals (18 and older) who are either new to BDSM or new to BR. Gateway is designed to facilitate getting your questions answered. A typical Gateway meeting has 30 – 75 participants with a diverse group of people.  The meeting is an informal discussion and there is nothing you have to bring. Casual or business attire is more appropriate, scene wear is not appropriate.

Parking is usually available on the street, but please make sure to observe all signs and parking regulations. There is also parking available at the hotel. Get validated for $5 for attending the Gateway program. The most convenient Metro stop is Ballston which is about four blocks away, though the hotel runs a free shuttle every seven minutes. Inquire at the hotel registration desk regarding which meeting room Black Rose will be using.

Please check the calendar of events for the date of the next Gateway meeting.

The second meeting is called Dungeon 101 and serves as an introduction to BDSM play. If you have never attended a BDSM play event, it can be a bit daunting. The Dungeon 101 class is specifically designed to help you feel comfortable as you learn about BDSM.  If you attend the Gateway meeting you will receive a coupon for a discount for Dungeon 101.

Dungeon 101 is held on the Friday following each Gateway program at The Crucible, located at 412 V Street NE, Washington, DC 20002. Unmetered street parking is available in the area, or the Rhode Island Avenue metro station is less than a half mile away.
