Please give us two weeks’ notice. \n\nClass Description\nBoldly Bottoming follows a discussion-based format where those who identify as bottoms can come together to discuss the various topics we face. Our discussions look to foster community\, share knowledge\, and promote safety in the community. \nFirst\, attendees will check in and consider discussion topics worth bringing into the space. Second\, we will do a round of introductions and select topics. After setting group norms and rules\, we will open up the floor to discuss the topics most voted on by attendees. Finally\, we will close the group intentionally and discuss next steps. \nNo skill level is needed and all experience levels are welcome. We do ask that only bottoms or switches attend. We love our tops\, but it is important to keep this group focused on bottoms learning from one another. \nPresenter Bio\nMy name is Kathy\, and I’m a girl who identifies as a service-oriented bottom within the kink community. My presentation style is rooted in service and a deep devotion to leaving a positive impact on the world by creating spaces where others can explore their own authenticity. I am a systemic sex therapist\, live in Philadelphia with my angelic cat\, Jojo\, and have been active in my local kink community since November 2022. In addition to hosting Boldly Bottoming\, I also teach on topics such as service\, rope\, bottoming\, and negotiation in my local scene. I have guest lectured at the graduate level and hosted kink-focused workshops for therapists seeking to become more kink-aware. \n\nTo minimize disruption\, there will be no admittance after 8:30. \nThis is not a play party. DESCRIPTION:Dungeon 101 serves as an introduction into public BDSM play. If you have never attended a public BDSM play event\, it can be a bit daunting. The Dungeon 101 class is specifically designed to make you feel comfortable at your first public BDSM dungeon event. Attendees and presenters come from a diverse cross section of the community\, all orientations\, genders and kinks are welcome. You are welcome to come alone\, bring a friend or bring a bunch of friends. \nFrom 7:30 until 8:00 PM will be social time. Starting at 8:00 PM\, there will be a talk on scene etiquette and an opportunity to learn about the dungeon itself. Directly following will be a “Exploratorium” event until 11:00 PM where you can try and/or experience many different kinds of play scenes. The idea is for it to be a fun evening for everyone! \nNo advance tickets are available for this event –  please plan to arrive early and pay at the door. \n  \n$10 with Gateway card\,\n$25 members with membership card\,\n$35 all others \nMore experienced folk come on out after 11:00 PM for Open Play. We ask that everyone except presenters keep their toy bags put away until Open Play starts to avoid confusion. No scenes or play permitted during the Exploratorium. \n  \nThis is an outreach event\, you do not need to be a BR or Crucible member to attend. \nIn order to foster a learning environment\, there is no sex allowed at Dungeon 101\, and no alcohol is sold. These extended sessions pair in-depth instruction with hands-on practice and lab time\, creating space for intentional learning and skill development beyond a single evening class. \nSchedule\n1:00 pm: Doors open\n1:30 pm – 3:00 pm: Deep Impact\n3:00 – 3:30 pm: Break\n3:30 pm – 5:00 pm: Advanced Scene Planning\n5:00 – 6:00 pm: Labbing \n  \nIntensive Class Descriptions\nClass 1: Deep Impact\nIf you crave deep thuddy sensation\, are seeking more extensive bruising\, or want your partner to feel how much you care about them all the way down to their bones\, this class is for you! Carmen will discuss marking\, anatomical and safety concerns for scenes with deep thud\, as well as general best practices and techniques. We’ll demonstrate intense rough body\, how certain types of bondage and body positioning can help strikes penetrate further into the body\, and which toys and pervertables can be enlisted to bring that extra oomph to your impact. \nClass 2: Advanced Scene Planning\nPlanning and executing a high-concept scene can take a lot of thought and effort. This class will help participants looking to gain confidence with preparing and executing an intense or important scene by walking attendees through how to analyze\, negotiate and plan. Participants should plan to bring a scene idea to workshop. An experienced instructor will help attendees refine their scene concepts and collaborate with other participants to leave class with a solid idea of how to make their fantasy a reality. \nPresenter Bio\nA former teacher with a lifelong passion for the bizarre and filthy\, Carmen Monoxide (she/they) also works as a kink professional\, event organizer\, sex educator\, and relationship coach. She has presented for small\, medium\, and large events across North America\, as well as for university and health care institutions. She founded Femme Fatale\, a kink event company\, and throws monthly parties in the Washington\, DC area. The class will include examples of multiple ordeals\, risks and various methods for dealing with anger in scene. \nPresenter Bio\nMonsignorX has been involved in BDSM for over 20 years primarily\, but not exclusively\, in submissive roles. He tends to be very philosophical in nature and teaches as much to learn from those who attend as to lecture. Submissives may long to endure more pain or provide specific acts of service\, dominants may want to top at a certain intensity level or engage in specific forms of control – but chronic illness\, pain\, disability\, fatigue\, neurodivergence\, trauma responses\, and mental health challenges can get in the way. We’ll explore the grief\, shame\, and vulnerability that arises when this happens\, and discuss practical adaptations\, communication strategies\, and creative renegotiation. Attendees will examine internalized ableism and self-induced pressure to “perform\,” and leave with tools to honor ourselves and our partners exactly as we are. \nPresenter Bio\nMeredith has been doing kinky stuff for over 20 years. We’ll unpack the baggage around the word “sadist\,” map the difference between dominance and sadism\, and explore what femme power looks like in the scene\, especially when your partner is physically larger or stronger. Like rough body play\, it includes punching and kicking\, and frequently adds biting\, spitting\, stomping\, body manipulation\, and other forms of extreme physical engagement. Consensual brutality requires its practitioners to conduct advanced negotiations\, and to be aware of potential mental and emotional effects that come along with such intense play. \nThis class will include a lecture and a demonstration. \nSAFETY NOTE: For everyone’s safety\, no one will be admitted to class more than 30 minutes after it begins. \nPresenter Bio\nSasquatch/Sas (he/him) has been an active member and volunteer in the DC public kink scene since the start of the millenia. He is a queer polyamorist with invisible disabilities\, living on unceded Nacotchtank lands. He is a heavy switch with a slant towards unconventional implements like swords and crowbars. He is immensely proud of his co-presenter and Property. Sas is an Emeritus Board Member of Black Rose\, and he presents\, demos\, and volunteers as often as feasible.
