From organizing travel\, planning meals\, keeping a butler book\, and more\, we will talk about how to enhance your service via technology. This class also discusses using these tools to help with other service challenges\, like memory and organization. \nPresenter Bio\nAJ Renard (she/her) has been involved in the BDSM world her entire adult life\, although she was a dark little thing far before that. AJ is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and has a deep passion for teaching about the intersection of BDSM and mental health. She finds her happy place when there is rope\, electricity\, knives\, boots\, fear\, and a lot of crying involved. \nAJ teaches a variety of classes about consent\, negotiations\, perspectives on D/s\, bottoming for intense scenes and edgeplay\, mental health and BDSM\, and behavioral science in PE dynamics. Additionally\, she often teaches about BDSM in non-kink spaces\, hoping to de-stigmatize kink for therapists and medical professionals. Please give us two weeks’ notice. \n\nClass Description\nInterested in learning to suspend yourself or a partner? Start here! \nIn rope suspension\, the person in rope is attached not only to themselves but also to a point above them. This class focuses on understanding and mitigating the risks incurred by choices made physically above the person in rope during suspension. Attendees will learn about hardpoint evaluation\, choosing suspension equipment\, secure upline lockoffs\, and how to respond to a rope jam. Those participating will use a bag to practice building a hanger\, constructing a pulley system with an upline\, and securely locking off the upline.\n \nParticipation is not required to attend. This information is also valuable for those who want to evaluate their risk profiles around hardpoints\, suspension gear\, and upline lockoffs. \nPlease Note: No humans will be suspended during this class. This class does not “certify” you to suspend. We will only be covering risk factors above the person in rope during this class\, which is a small portion of overall suspension safety information. Additional in-person education will be necessary prior to and during your first suspension. \nPre-requisites for participation: \nComfortable tying a non-collapsing single column tie that leaves a bight (which could be\, but does not have to be\, a Somerville bowline). This should be muscle memory. \nAbility to accept critique on technique during the hand-on portions. \nParticipants should bring: \n\nA moderately heavy bag (>5 lbs) to suspend.\n1-2 pieces of 30ft POSH\, Nylon/MFP\, or Hemp rope – please check with us if you plan to use anything else.
