SUMMARY:How Not To Become A Harm Doer with Savage
DESCRIPTION:Class Description\nVery few harm doers set out to become one. Very few people expect someone they love or trust to be accused of harm. Yet communities seem to cycle through seasons of harm\, call out\, and silence\, often surprised and resistant to acknowledge when someone they or someone they care for are accused. If the harm doer is not me\, then how can I keep my community safe? If I could be a harm doer\, how do I know and what can I do to prevent it? Taken from the perspective of shame resilience research and human social group behavior\, this workshop will explore personal\, small group\, and community accountability approaches to understand harm as a behavior and interrupt cycles of harm before they become patterns and identity. \nPresenter Bio\n\nSavage (any pronouns) queermudgeon\, delightworker\, pleasure activist and Good Trouble. Savage is an embodiment specialist\, game designer\, storyteller\,and neurodivergent third culture nomad. They aspire to be a NPC Quest Giver\, but often find themselves dragged along on adventures\, or doing witchy cryptid things in the woods. Savage’s default world background in social work\, public health\, data design and systems transformation inform a habit of creating collaborative classes designed to teach complex concepts with fun and play. A decade plus in kink\, alt sex\, queer and spiritual communities blend with a science-minded approach to all the nerdy passions available\, though the breadth of topics can be overwhelming even to them\, such as teaching mindful deepthroat practices one day and ethics for private practice clinicians the next. Savage’s certifications in somatic bodywork approaches (somatic experiencing) and psychedelic-assisted interventions are part of a life of curiosity that somehow also finds time for cuddles\, inspiring erotica\, writing\, making weird art\, singing with gusto\, and tending the gardens of their friendships and communities. \n\nTickets are $5 for Black Rose Members and Members of Reciprocal Groups with their Membership Card and $10 for non-members. \nAll ticket sales are at the door. \n\nEmail info@br.org for more information about Black Rose or its events. \nAccessibility accommodations are available upon request to accessibility@br.org.
