Leather care 101 is a class for folks looking to maintain their current leathers or learn a little for future leather adventures. Every leather enthusiast has their routine and preferences for leather care. As such\, this class will not be the ultimate guide on leather care\, but suggestions from one enthusiast with a few years of experimentation. \nIf you have a pair of boots or a harness that’s been begging you to condition it\, this is your opportunity to get a second opinion and work on your leathers in a class setting. This class will be a short lecture\, followed by a workshop for folks to mess about with their leathers and ask questions. Some basic leather care supplies will be available\, but supplies are limited. There will also be a small selection of leather goods provided by Blue for folks to clean if they don’t have any leathers themselves. \nBy the end of this class\, participants will have an understanding of the function and use of leather care supplies (soaps\, conditioners\, oils\, brushes\, polish\, miscellaneous supplies). Participants will know the difference in some types of leather and their care needs. Finally\, participants will have time to clean their leathers (optional) with time to ask questions about their specific leathers. \nAttendee supplies- OPTIONAL\, presenter will supply limited extras. \n\nLeathers (cuffs\, boots\, any gear you want to clean).\nLeather care supplies\nThis is a class designed for beginners\, but is open to all levels of experience.\n\nPresenter Bio\nnocturneBlue (they/them) is a queer leather worker and part time dog out of the DMV with a passion for leather care. They’ve participated in the DMV scene since 2023 and seek to share their perspective as a leather worker from a non-kink background. As a chronic horse-girl\, Blue has been cleaning and maintaining leathers for over a decade. Owner of Nocturne Blue Leather\, they are passionate about making high quality leathers for all folks. In this workshop\, we’ll explore how to maintain authority\, control\, and presence even while your body is receiving. Through discussion\, demos\, and guided exercises\, we’ll unpack strategies for commanding the pace\, tone\, and energy of the scene\, whether you’re with one partner or many. \nParticipants will learn: \n\nTechniques for staying in charge while in physically “submissive” positions\nNegotiation tools to establish clear expectations and boundaries\nBody language\, voice\, and psychological strategies that reinforce dominance\nWays to navigate shifting power dynamics with confidence and creativity\n\nThis class is designed for Dominants\, Switches\, and anyone curious about holding power in positions that are often coded as passive. This class is also for submissives who like being the active partner. All genders\, orientations\, and experience levels are welcome. Come ready to challenge assumptions\, sharpen your skills\, and claim your dominance\, no matter what your body is doing. \nPresenter Bio\nSkeleton_Bitch (they/them)\, aka Lizzie\, aka Picasso of Pain\, is a disabled\, genderfluid dominant/sadist/artist. They are one of the hosts of the monthly queer-centered play party\, @qinkdc\, and the Director of Education for @br_BlackRose. They have been participating in kink since 2006 and part of the DMV kink community since 2022. They have been navigating the nuances of being kinky while living with multiple chronic illnesses and being autistic with ADHD (AuDHD) and what that means for them as a dominant\, top\, and organizer. Please give us two weeks’ notice. \n\nClass Description\nBoldly Bottoming follows a discussion-based format where those who identify as bottoms can come together to discuss the various topics we face. Our discussions look to foster community\, share knowledge\, and promote safety in the community. \nFirst\, attendees will check in and consider discussion topics worth bringing into the space. Second\, we will do a round of introductions and select topics. After setting group norms and rules\, we will open up the floor to discuss the topics most voted on by attendees. Finally\, we will close the group intentionally and discuss next steps. \nNo skill level is needed and all experience levels are welcome. We do ask that only bottoms or switches attend. We love our tops\, but it is important to keep this group focused on bottoms learning from one another. \nPresenter Bio\nMy name is Kathy\, and I’m a girl who identifies as a service-oriented bottom within the kink community. My presentation style is rooted in service and a deep devotion to leaving a positive impact on the world by creating spaces where others can explore their own authenticity. I am a systemic sex therapist\, live in Philadelphia with my angelic cat\, Jojo\, and have been active in my local kink community since November 2022. In addition to hosting Boldly Bottoming\, I also teach on topics such as service\, rope\, bottoming\, and negotiation in my local scene. The class will include examples of multiple ordeals\, risks and various methods for dealing with anger in scene. \nPresenter Bio\nMonsignorX has been involved in BDSM for over 20 years primarily\, but not exclusively\, in submissive roles. He tends to be very philosophical in nature and teaches as much to learn from those who attend as to lecture. Submissives may long to endure more pain or provide specific acts of service\, dominants may want to top at a certain intensity level or engage in specific forms of control – but chronic illness\, pain\, disability\, fatigue\, neurodivergence\, trauma responses\, and mental health challenges can get in the way. We’ll explore the grief\, shame\, and vulnerability that arises when this happens\, and discuss practical adaptations\, communication strategies\, and creative renegotiation. Attendees will examine internalized ableism and self-induced pressure to “perform\,” and leave with tools to honor ourselves and our partners exactly as we are. \nPresenter Bio\nMeredith has been doing kinky stuff for over 20 years.
