DESCRIPTION:Black Rose’s New and Curious Kinksters (or NaCK)\, is a discussion group designed for people who are new(ish) to the scene. While we highly recommend all new kinksters check out Gateway (the first/last Thursday of each month – always the day before D101) and Dungeon 101 (the first Friday of each month) and come with questions about their experiences\, it is not required\, and we welcome anyone new to kink. Please note NaCK is for asking questions\, there will be no presentation or monologuing. \nWe meet the 4th Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00pm. We are going to try out having virtual NaCK. I know many of us have Zoom fatigue\, but this is a more responsible approach. We’ll chat about whatever comes up – everything from “what do I wear to the club?” to “I had this great scene\, but this part didn’t go well. What do you suggest?” NaCK has a rotating group of experienced kinksters come in to answer questions\, so the discussion is always a little bit different\, and we aim to provide a variety of answers from different D/s roles\, genders\, races\, and backgrounds. \nIf you are still in the beginning of your kink journey\, we hope you’ll come join us to ask questions and share advice. The first step in any amazing scene is a strong negotiation\, but kinksters aren’t always using the same language\, and it can be nerve wracking to ask for something new or risky. This class will cover how to establish boundaries\, express desires\, and ensure all parties’ needs are met through practical exercises and real-world scenarios. \nWe’ll approach negotiation with an emphasis on the importance of clear communication\, consent\, and mutual understanding. Desires and boundaries both have nuance\, and we’ll tackle how to first understand what you want\, and how to express that to others. \nNo conversation on negotiation is complete without addressing the psychology of power dynamics\, the role of safewords\, and the importance of aftercare; we’ll provide participants with the tools to create safe\, consensual\, and fulfilling scenes from the moment an idea pops into your head\, until you’ve finished aftercare. The course will cover techniques for addressing unexpected situations\, managing emotional responses\, and maintaining a balance of power that respects all participants’ limits and desires \nAfter this course you should be able to navigate even the most complex negotiations with confidence and empathy. \nPresenter Bio\nMo or @MoProblems (any/all) is a queer genderfluid kinkster entering a second year in the local DC scene. DESCRIPTION:Class Description\nRubber bands\, friend or foe? Not just for the office anymore\, rubber bands can offer a pinchy\, stingy feeling or can pack a wallop that they won’t see coming. For over 10 years Shanghai has been teaching people how to pervert the lowly rubber band into something to be feared\, revered\, and steered clear of. And yet\, they always come back for more! (This class has a hands-on component towards the end where attendees can make their rubber band toys with supplies I provide.) \nPresenter Bio\nShanghai is a former DMV area local who grew up in the suburbs of the nation’s capital and now resides in the Tampa Bay\, FL area after retiring from the corporate world in 2019. In 1999 she found out that there was a name for what she had been attracted to most of her life\, that there were people with like minds and interests just waiting to teach her more\, and that BSDM could be practiced in a loving and caring relationship. She finally burst onto the local Washington\, DC scene in early 2000\, quickly outgrew the idea that she was submissive\, and embraced her true calling as a Top. \nIn her 20-plus years in the scene\, Shanghai has presented and taught for The Crucible\, Black Rose\, Camp Crucible\, and smaller more intimate groups on various topics that include foot worship\, dungeon etiquette\, single tail\, rubber bands\, and clothespins. Along with her husband\, she has presented on more taboo subjects. Shanghai became the ‘Godmother’ of Camp Crucible’s Kidnapping Event when Frazier and Susan asked her to design and devise the event for the first camp in 2004. Smartphones can be useful for interactive activities \nPresenter Bio\nAkasha is an avid reader\, author\, corporate finance and legal professional\, book club leader and advocate for the following: social justice and equity in cannabis in both a sociopolitical and criminal justice context\, LGBTQIAA+ rights and representation\, BIPOC liberation and the need for accomplices and allies\, as well as womanism and intersectionality in the bell hooks\, Vi Johnson and Kimberlé Crenshaw traditions.
Having been in the kink community for 12 years\, her experiences span the United States\, France\, Korea\, Japan and the United Kingdom\, with her home scene being NYC. DESCRIPTION:Class Description\nVery few harm doers set out to become one. Very few people expect someone they love or trust to be accused of harm. Yet communities seem to cycle through seasons of harm\, call out\, and silence\, often surprised and resistant to acknowledge when someone they or someone they care for are accused. If the harm doer is not me\, then how can I keep my community safe? If I could be a harm doer\, how do I know and what can I do to prevent it? Taken from the perspective of shame resilience research and human social group behavior\, this workshop will explore personal\, small group\, and community accountability approaches to understand harm as a behavior and interrupt cycles of harm before they become patterns and identity. \nPresenter Bio\n\nSavage (any pronouns) queermudgeon\, delightworker\, pleasure activist and Good Trouble. Savage is an embodiment specialist\, game designer\, storyteller\,and neurodivergent third culture nomad. They aspire to be a NPC Quest Giver\, but often find themselves dragged along on adventures\, or doing witchy cryptid things in the woods. Savage’s default world background in social work\, public health\, data design and systems transformation inform a habit of creating collaborative classes designed to teach complex concepts with fun and play. A decade plus in kink\, alt sex\, queer and spiritual communities blend with a science-minded approach to all the nerdy passions available\, though the breadth of topics can be overwhelming even to them\, such as teaching mindful deepthroat practices one day and ethics for private practice clinicians the next.
