This class focuses on discussing the differences between masochism and detrimental self-injurious behavior\, including the physical\, emotional\, and psychological effects of each. We will talk about interacting and providing support (whether it be intimate relationships\, kinky play\, or in a mental health setting) with people who need pain in their lives. \nPresenter Bio\nAJ Renard (she/her) has been involved in the BDSM world her entire adult life\, although she was a dark little thing far before that. AJ works in the mental health field and has a deep passion for teaching about BDSM and consent. Please note NaCK is for asking questions\, there will be no presentation or monologuing. \nWe meet the 4th Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00pm. We are going to try out having virtual NaCK. I know many of us have Zoom fatigue\, but this is a more responsible approach. We’ll chat about whatever comes up – everything from “what do I wear to the club?” to “I had this great scene\, but this part didn’t go well. SUMMARY:Topping and Bottoming with Disability: A Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Class Description\nHow disability intersects with kink is something many of us are never taught early in our journeys\, including how being disabled or our play partners being disabled may inform how we top and/or bottom. What adjustments need to be made for a bottom that is hard of hearing or deaf? What happens if a top has limited mobility? What measures can be taken for tops and bottoms that experience sensory overwhelm? How can we include conversations about our disabilities when negotiating play? Through this panel discussion\, four kinksters bring their experiences and advice on navigating living with disabilities as tops\, bottoms\, and switches. \nThis panel discussion will not encompass all disabilities and experiences\, but is meant to help some folks start a dialogue and consider how going forward we can collectively normalize these conversations. \nPresenter Bio\n@Skeleton_Bitch (they/he/she)\, aka Lizzie\, aka Picasso of Pain\, is a disabled\, genderfluid dominant/sadist/artist and one of the hosts of the monthly queer-centered play party\, @qinkdc. They have been participating in kink since 2006 and part of the DMV kink community since 2022. They have been navigating the nuances of being kinky while living with multiple chronic illnesses and being autistic with ADHD (AuDHD) and what that means for them as a dominant\, top\, and organizer. \n@bluealienbarbie (she/her) a top-leaning switch who has been in the kink community for a little over 2 years. She has hearing loss and wears hearing aids. She had found that because of her hearing loss she has had to adapt to nonverbal communication in scenes\, both as a top and a bottom. \nAlice (She/Her)\, has been an active member of the kink community since 2019. She has found a passion for exploring the intersection of kink and neurodiversity\, particularly as an autistic individual. Through her journey\, she has delved into the intricacies of navigating the kink world while embracing her identity and experiences as an autistic person; with a specific focus on communication styles\, sensory experiences\, and boundary setting within kink dynamics. \nMeredith (she/her) is a Deaf queer cis woman who has been practicing kink since 2000. SUMMARY:New and Curious Kinksters
DESCRIPTION:Black Rose’s New and Curious Kinksters (or NaCK)\, is a discussion group designed for people who are new(ish) to the scene. While we highly recommend all new kinksters check out Gateway (the first/last Thursday of each month – always the day before D101) and Dungeon 101 (the first Friday of each month) and come with questions about their experiences\, it is not required\, and we welcome anyone new to kink. Please note NaCK is for asking questions\, there will be no presentation or monologuing. \nWe meet the 4th Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00pm. We are going to try out having virtual NaCK. I know many of us have Zoom fatigue\, but this is a more responsible approach. We’ll chat about whatever comes up – everything from “what do I wear to the club?” to “I had this great scene\, but this part didn’t go well. What do you suggest?” NaCK has a rotating group of experienced kinksters come in to answer questions\, so the discussion is always a little bit different\, and we aim to provide a variety of answers from different D/s roles\, genders\, races\, and backgrounds. \nIf you are still in the beginning of your kink journey\, we hope you’ll come join us to ask questions and share advice.
